11th Annual Project Evaluation and 9th Accounting Training Meeting organized within the scope of Herdbook, Pre-Herdbook and Progeny Testing Project, which is being carried out jointly by Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and Cattle Breeders’ Association of Turkey, were held on 27-29 November 2018 in Antalya.
Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry General Directorate of Livestock (HAYGEM) Head of Department of Breeding and Improvement Adem BÖLÜKBAŞI, Antalya Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Director Mustafa ÖZEN, President of the Cattle Breeders’ Association of Turkey Kamil ÖZCAN, Members of the Board and Supervisory Board of Cattle Breeders’ Association of Turkey, Project Managers of Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Directorates, President of Cattle Breeders’ Associations, Responsible Directors of the Association and related staff were present at the meeting.
In his opening speech, President Kamil ÖZCAN pointed out the importance of the associations and stated “With the support of the Ministry and with the great efforts of CBAT (Cattle Breeders’ Association of Turkey), Cattle Breeders’ Associations have become an important and exemplary institution in Turkey’s livestock sector in breed improvement activities with 150 thousand herdbook members, 1,500 employees and 950 field service vehicles, despite the limited economic facilities.” Talking about the projects carried out jointly by the Ministry and the Cattle Breeders’ Association of Turkey, the President said “Thanks to the Project of Progeny Test, high quality bull semen continues to be provided to the use of the cattle sector in Turkey under the brand of GENTÜRK. Furthermore, we also exported a considerable amount of GENTÜRK semen to Azerbaijan.” ÖZCAN mentioned the issues to be covered within the content of evaluation and training meetings, and hoped to have solutions to the problems encountered in the applications.
Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry HAYGEM Head of Department of Breeding and Improvement Adem BÖLÜKBAŞI emphasized that breeding is extremely important for animal husbandry of the country and stated that Cattle Breeders’ Associations are exemplary organizations working jointly with the Ministry.
During the three-day meeting; Agricultural Engineer Kemalettin ÖZCAN, Veterinarian Kiraz ÖZKAN, Veterinarian Emine ÖKSÜZ DURMAZ from Department of Breeding and Improvement; Veterinarian Ahmet ERCAN, Veterinarian Halit TANRIVERDİ from General Directorate of Food and Control Department Animal Health and Quarantine Department; Veterinarian Şifai Şerif TARAYICI from Department of Infrastructure, Environment and Monitoring, Veterinarian Öner ÖZBEY from the Department of Cattle and Ovine Department, Certified Public Accountant Aziz Bora ELÇİN, Işılay SAĞLIK and Ümit ÇELİKTEN from Ziraat Bank managers, CBAT Administrative and Financial Affairs Branch Director M. Cüneyt BAYOĞLU, Technical Affairs Branch Director İbrahim KARAKOYUNLU and Software Expert Sencer GÜLTUNA provided information to the participants with their presentations. Following the information presentations in accounting and technical fields, a general evaluation session was held with the participation of all the participants and the meeting program was concluded.
