Agriculture Azerbaijan-Turkey Business Forum was held in Baku

Azerbaijan – Turkey Agriculture Business Forum was organized in Baku on the date of 10 December 2018 under the auspices of Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir PAKDEMİRLİ. In the agricultural business forum where mutual cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey was discussed, beside Dr. Bekir PAKDEMİRLİ; the Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan Inam KERİMOV, the bureaucrats of two countries, businessmen and representatives of NGOs attended. As the representitives of Cattle Breeders’ Association of Turkey President General Kamil ÖZCAN, Vice President Yunus BAYDAR, Accountant Member Mehmet ALDEMİR, Board Member Hacı SELVİ, Hasan Hüseyin Özdemir, Serhat VAYISOĞLU, Technical Affairs Department Director Ibrahim KARAKOYUNLU, Agricultural Engineer Onur YİĞİT has participated.



During the meeting, describing Turkey’s achievements in the agricultural sector Mr. PAKDEMİRLİ, stated “Today, Turkey agricultural enterprises of over 3 million agricultural farms, 5 million agricultural employment, 38 million hectares of agricultural land, 52.2 billion dollars in agricultural receipts and is a driving force in Europe with 17 billion dollars in agricultural exports. We are the first in Europe, the seventh in the world. Turkey is a country in a good spot and better assess resources in agriculture. We would like to share this success with Azerbaijan.”


Emphasizing That trade relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey should enter into a new era Mr. Minister said,
“Our bilateral trade volume is 1.7 billion dollars. The target of our presidents is 15 billion dollars. We’re far behind this target. Our agricultural trade is 130 million dollars. Our overall trade in agriculture is a share of 8 percent, 1.3 billion dollars in Azerbaijan’s agricultural import, while 12 billion dollars in Turkey’s agricultural import. What we need to buy and sell in our agricultural trade, we need to do this with each other.
The forum, attended by about 100 Turkish businessmen operating in the field of agriculture and food industry, continued with bilateral meetings of businessmen. In the scope of his contacts Minister Pakdemirli visited, TIKA Baku Coordinator and Yunus Emre Institute Baku Turkish Cultural Center with his counterpart Kerimov.
