14th Agroexpo International Agriculture and Livestock Fair, which is one of Turkey’s biggest fairs, was held on 7-10 February 2019 in İzmir. The fair was attended by 2,500 firms from about 70 countries; new agriculture and animal husbandry technologies were presented at the fair.
In addition to Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Bekir PAKDEMİRLİ, the fair was attended, Governor of İzmir Erol AYYILDIZ, ministers of the countries participating in the fair, Deputy Ministers, Ambassadors, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Acting Mayor Sırrı AYDOĞAN, Cattle Breeders’ Association of Turkey Chairman Kamil ÖZCAN, Accountant Member Mehmet ALDEMİR, Management Board Members Serhat VAYISOĞLU, Hacı SELVİ and Hasan Hüseyin ÖZDEMİR, Audit Board Members Mehmet Sedat GÜNGÖR and Ahmet KIRLIOĞLU, Secretary General İbrahim KARAKOYUNLU and Technical Affairs Branch Director Onur YİĞİT, producers, farmers and representatives of other sectors. The stand opened by Cattle Breeders’ Association was visited by Provincial Association Chairmen, Provincial Association representatives and a high number of breeders. During the fair, information was given to the participants about the activities of the Central Association as well as Cattle Breeders’ Associations and promotion products were distributed. Also, future cooperation possibilities were discussed with the ministry representatives of foreign countries.
Representatives at ministry level from many countries attended the fair. At the Agriculture Summit organized within the scope of the fair, ministers of seven countries discussed the problems of the sector, solution methods and its future. Various seminars were organized under topics such as technologic farms, sustainable agriculture and the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in agriculture. Presentations were made to promote tractors and innovations in agriculture machines, milk animal husbandry training was organized and races of sheep, goat and cattle were presented. To increase the interest in the fair, various activities were organized such as “sheep goat beauty contest”, “yogurt eating contest”, “young farmers’ knowledge contest” and “heavy brothers’ bull competition”.
