TURKEY SIMMENTAL BREEDING PANEL HELD IN İZMİR

Republic of Turkey Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock and Cattle Breeders’ Association of Turkey(CBAT) have been held on 6th of October 2015 in İzmir Turkey. İzmir Vice Governor Mr. Hüseyin İÇTEN, Chief Inspectors of Republic of Turkey Ministry of Food, Agricuture and Livestock; Mr. Fatih KÖSEOĞLU and Mr. Emin POLAT,  Vice Director General of Livestock Mr. Dr. İbrahim ÖZCAN, Director General of Agriculture Reform Mr. Mehmet ÖZGÜN, Directorate General of Livestock Department of Animal Breeding Mr. Dr. Bekir ANKARALI, İzmir Provincial Director of Repucliv of Turkey Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock Mr. Ahmet GÜLDAL, Secretary General of Turkish Beef and Labm Producers Assocaiton Mr. Adnan GÜLTEK, Vice Director General of Meat and Milk Institution Osman UZUN, İzmir Sheep and Goat Breeders’ Associaton Province President Mr. Özer TÜRKER, CBATs Administration and Supervision Board and Provincial Presidents, Lecturers from Ankara University, Ege University and Adnan Menderes University, Delegation of Avustria Simmental Breeders’ Association, non-governmental organisations representatives and breeders have been attended to the Simmental Panel.

Opening Speech has been maden by Secretary General of CBAT Mr. Dr. Hüseyin VELİOĞLU. Mr. VELİOĞLU has indicated that the next World Simmental Federation’s 2017 Conference will have been in İzmir, Turkey and he said that “We achieved to bring the World Congress to Turkey with Administration Board of CBAT and its members efforts.”

CBATs President Mr. Cemalettin ÖZDEN, has addressed to significance of increase on red meat producing in order to be able to feed to young generations alongside the Panel is the first attempt in Turkey on its own region.

Vice Director General of Livestock Mr. Dr. İbrahim ÖZCAN has remembered that Turkey’s a developed country which has 14.5 million head cattle currently, and also Turkey has been producing, 18 million ton milk and 1 million ton red meat in a year which is making Turkey special country in the world.

The Panel has composed of three sessions, existing situation on Simmental breeding has discussed in first session of panel. Moderator of 1th session was Mr. Prof. Dr. Atakan KOÇ who is studying at Zootechny Department in Faculty of Agriculture of Ege University. First session has been composed of four presentations. First of them has maden by Manager of Technical Department of CBAT, Mr. Dr. Onur ŞAHİN, on “Current Situation on Simmental Breeding”. Second presentation has maden by Mr. Prof. Dr. Atakan KOÇ who is profesor at Zootechny Department in Faculty of Agriculture of Adnan Menderes University on “Consideration of Simmental Breeding in Turkey.”, other presentations have maden by Johan TANZLER on “Management Simmental Austria” and Reinhard PFLEGER on “Simmental Breeding”.

Dean of Agriculture Faculty of Adnan Menderes University Mr. Prof. Dr. Kadir KIZILKAYA has modorated second session. In this session, two breeders, Mr. Murat Recep TEMİZ from Çorum and Selahattin DİNÇ from İZMİR who is owner of Doruk Hayvancılık Coo have informed to participant about their farms and Simmental breeding. Afterwards, several presentations have maden by Directorate General of Livestock Department of Animal Breeding Mr. Dr. Bekir ANKARALI on “Simmental Breeding in Turkey”, Researcher at Zootechny Department in Faculty of Agriculture of Ankara University Mrs. Ayşe Övgü ŞEN on “Popularisation of Simmental Genotype in Turkey”, Engineer Msc. Gülhan ERDOĞDU TATAR on “Contributions of Simmental Breed on Milk and Meat Produce in Turkey”, Lecturers at Faculty of Veternary of Ankara University Mr. Prof. Dr. Rıfat VURAL and Mr. Prof. Dr. Şükrü KÜPLÜLÜ and Manager of Cattle Raising of Directorate General of Agricultural Enterprises Veterinarian Mr. Ahmet BAŞ on “Fertility and Udder Health on Dairing”.

Journalist İsmail UĞURAL has modorated third session with representatives of public, university and non-governmental organisations on Simmental breed’s future.
